Zahra Youmni, founder of Résonance, gathered at the gong in the Paris 16 studio

About · Paris 16

Our story

Résonance grew out of a very concrete relationship with sound, and the wish to make it a space rather than a promise.

Résonance, in brief

Résonance is a sound studio in Paris 16, founded by Zahra Youmni, a sound therapist and hypnotherapist. She came to sound personally long before she came to it professionally, spent several years in Thailand training and practising, then came back to Paris to open the studio at 26 rue de Bassano. What's on offer isn't a guaranteed outcome. It's an hour that has been thought about properly: calm, precise, held from start to finish. That goes for every sound bath and every one-to-one session, and sessions run in English. The studio currently sits at 5.0 from 63 Google reviews.

The practitioner

Who is Zahra Youmni?

Zahra was on the receiving end of this long before she ever practised it. Not as a belief, and not as a theory. Just a private thing she kept noticing: certain vibrations put her head somewhere nothing else could reach. She got stubborn about it. Eventually she turned it into a job rather than a retreat.

She leads every session at the studio herself. There's no rotating team and no stand-in, so the person who meets you at the door of 26 rue de Bassano is the same one behind the gong an hour later. That's deliberate, and it's the thing people mention first in their reviews.

  • Sound therapist & hypnotherapist. two disciplines, one way of working.
  • Every session, in person. no rotating team, no stand-in practitioner.
  • A practice built in the field. years of listening, in Thailand and then in Paris.

How did Résonance begin?

It wasn't a straight line, and that's largely why the practice stayed grounded.

The starting point

A private relationship with sound, and the growing sense that it reached the body long before it reached the mind.

The immersion in Thailand

Several years training and practising there, a long way from the Paris wellness circuit. Learning the instruments, mostly learning to listen.

The practice

Sessions, then more sessions. The method got sharper because real people kept turning up with real things going on.

The return to Paris

Paris doesn't stop. She wanted somewhere in it where you're allowed to.

Founding Résonance

The studio in the 16th opens. A pared-back room, built to stay quiet, where the sound massage and the gong bath finally have somewhere to happen properly.

What is our approach?

We start from one idea: the body doesn't need persuading, it needs the right conditions. So that's where the work goes. A calm room. A steady presence. Sound that's controlled rather than dramatic. Then we get out of the way and let your nervous system take it from there.

It also means being clear about what we don't do. No chakras. No promises of transformation. No miracles. Sound doesn't add anything to you; it just gives you enough quiet to notice what was already there. That honesty is the whole basis of our approach to sound therapy, and it's why individuals and corporate teams both end up here.

What we offer, and what we don't promise

We'd rather be clear than impressive. Here's exactly where we stand.

What we offerWhat we don't claim to do
Deep sensory restCure anxiety or depression
Support for relaxation and sleepGuarantee a result, or fix your sleep
Help with stress regulationReplace medical or therapeutic care
Better body awarenessPromise transformation or miracles
A calm, precise, well-run hourPut on a spiritual performance

The usual precautions and contraindications are set out on the safety & care page.

Our values

Restraint

Take things away rather than add them. Most of what matters is already in the room.

Measure

Slowing down isn't lost time. It's how you find your own pace again.

Honesty

We don't make promises sound can't keep, and we'd rather describe what happens than what sells.

Hospitality

A women-owned space, welcoming to LGBTQ+ people. Everyone has a place here.

Our mission

Paris is one of the fastest cities in Europe. We wanted to put somewhere inside it where you can genuinely stop. It isn't a class. It isn't a performance, and it isn't therapy with the label filed off. It's an hour of deep rest, properly held, open to anyone prepared to lie down and be quiet about it. Alone, as a pair or with colleagues, the intention is the same: get the conditions right, then let the silence get on with it. If you'd rather ask first, the contact page is always open, in English or French.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Zahra Youmni?
Zahra Youmni is the founder and practitioner behind Résonance. A sound therapist and hypnotherapist, she trained and then spent several years practising in Thailand before coming back to Paris to open the studio in the 16th. She leads every gong bath and every one-to-one session herself, in English or French.
What is her training?
She trained in both sound therapy and hypnotherapy. The certificates matter less than the hours behind them: years of practising and listening, first in Thailand, then with the people who now come through the studio on rue de Bassano.
What makes the Résonance approach different?
We refuse to put on a show. No mysticism, no promises of transformation, no esoteric vocabulary. We set the room up properly, hold it steady for an hour, and let the nervous system do its own work. The method is set out on the sound therapy page.
Can Résonance cure anxiety or sleep problems?
No, and we don't claim to. A sound session is neither medical treatment nor a substitute for care. What we offer is deep sensory rest and support for relaxation and stress regulation. The precautions and contraindications are gathered on the safety & care page.
How do I try a first session?
Come to a group sound bath. You lie down, you listen, and there's nothing you need to be any good at. Formats and prices are on the pricing page, or you can book directly.

Zahra says it often: sound is a mirror, it changes nothing, it reveals. If that idea speaks to you, you'll probably understand Résonance better by coming than by reading. The door in the 16th is there for that.
