Gong Bath & sound bath in Paris 16

An hour lying down, immersed in sound. Nothing to do and nothing to get right. Your body handles the rest.

The gong bath in brief

A gong bath in Paris 16 is a group session of around an hour in which you stay lying down, immersed in the sounds of the gong, Tibetan bowls and chimes. No experience is needed and there's nothing to “do”: the vibrations occupy your attention, the mind settles, and the nervous system shifts into rest. At Résonance the session takes seven people at most, costs from €39, and happens at 26 rue de Bassano, a short walk from Trocadéro. Sessions are led in English by Zahra, who is bilingual, so nothing needs arranging in advance. For a one-to-one approach, see the private session or the sound massage with Tibetan bowls.

How it runs

What happens during a session?

It all begins with a quiet welcome. The session follows four simple movements: breathe, connect, release, restore. It's deliberately unspectacular, and that's the point: whatever happens, happens when you stop trying, not when you try harder. If you're coming as a pair, the duo session moves the same hour into a private room.

  • Welcome. You're settled on the floor with a blanket and a cushion. Most people close their eyes within the first few minutes.
  • Immersion. About 45 minutes of continuous sound: you listen, you breathe at your own pace, nothing to manage.
  • Integration. A gradual return, the moment you sit up slowly before meeting the street again.

The neighbourhood

A gong bath a few minutes off the Champs-Élysées

The studio is at 26 rue de Bassano, on the edge of the 16th and the 8th, between the Champs-Élysées and place Victor Hugo. It's a neighbourhood that moves fast: head offices, private practices, fashion houses, tight calendars. Spending an hour without a phone, lying in the dark listening to a gong, stands out here.

People walk over from Trocadéro and Passy, come by metro to George V (line 1), Iéna or Alma-Marceau (line 9), or on the RER A to Charles-de-Gaulle–Étoile. Every route is set out on the studio page.

Frequently asked questions

What is a gong bath (or sound bath)?
A gong bath, also called a sound bath, is a session in which you stay lying down, still and covered, immersed in the sounds and vibrations of the gong, Tibetan bowls and chimes. There's nothing for you to do: no posture, no prescribed breathing. The sound waves occupy your attention, the mind settles, and the body slides towards deep rest. It's one of the most accessible forms of sound therapy in Paris.
How long does a gong bath session last?
Around an hour in total. The session opens with a calm welcome and a short introduction, followed by about 45 minutes of sound immersion, then a gradual return and time to integrate before you leave. Plan to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early so you can settle in without rushing.
How much does a gong bath in Paris cost?
At Résonance the group session starts at €39 per person. To come regularly, the passes of 3, 5 or 12 sessions bring the price down to as little as €30 a session, and the unlimited membership suits anyone making it a weekly practice.
What should I wear and bring?
Come in comfortable, warm clothing: body temperature drops when you lie still. Everything is provided: mats, blankets, cushions and eye masks. There's nothing else to organise but yourself.
What's the difference between a sound bath and a gong bath?
Both describe the same experience: a sound immersion, lying down. “Sound bath” is the generic term; “gong bath” puts the emphasis on the gong as the central instrument. At Résonance the gong is at the heart of the session, joined by bowls and chimes.
Is a gong bath suitable for beginners?
Yes, most people who come have never tried it. There's no technique to learn: you lie down, you listen, you let yourself be carried. It's precisely the framing that does the work.
Are there any contraindications?
A gong bath is not advised if you have epilepsy, a pacemaker, severe hearing conditions or hearing implants, psychosis that isn't currently stable, and during the first trimester of pregnancy or from the eighth month. If you're unsure, check with your doctor. The detail is on the safety & care page.

If you're still reading, something in you may already need to slow down. You don't have to believe in it for it to work: you only have to lie down for an hour and listen. We'll take care of the rest.
